Two Articles on Giving
From the Financial Times
Use Your Heart and Head When Giving
What gets lost in all of this focus on evaluation and numbers is the grace and joy of philanthropy. Philanthropy inspires. It tells stories. It reconnects us with others and reminds us of our shared humanity.

Two Awards
Bob McInnis, Executive Director of BB4CK is being recognized for his work and the work of Brown Bagging for Calgary's Kids.
On March 12, Bob will receive the Community Vision Award from First Calgary Savings and Financial at First Calgary's Annual General Meeting. "In 1993, First Calgary Savings began recognizing an individual or organization that has promoted or enhanced the lives of Calgarians through contributions to Calgary's voluntary sector."
On April 29, in Toronto, he will receive the 2008 Today’s Parent For Kids’ Sake Award. " Broadly speaking, we’re looking for people who have done something that benefits Canadian children. Their impact may touch a large number of kids(for example, an activist who has helped convince governments to add a new immunization to those routinely given to babies)or just a few(for example, a teacher of deaf students who shows a rare gift for developing their skills). The important thing is that they have seen a need and responded. The winners will demonstrate extraordinary personal commitment and dedication to kids."
Both these awards represents the efforts of hundreds of volunteers, supporters and stakeholders.

Success

“Free the child's potential, and you will transform him into the world”
Maria Montessori
Montessori wrote this about literacy but is even more true about adequate nutrition. Nearly 10,000 children in Calgary are hungry every day, more than 24,000 suffer from food insecurity. If one of them was your brothers child, what would you do?
